How to BEcome a Christian

Understanding the Gospel

The Gospel is the good news about Jesus Christ. It tells us how we can have a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus. Here are the key points:

  1. God Loves You: God created you and loves you. He wants you to have a personal relationship with Him. (John 3:16)
  2. Sin Separates Us from God: All of us have sinned and fall short of God's glory. Our sin separates us from God. (Romans 3:23)
  3. Jesus Died for Our Sins: Jesus Christ, God's Son, died on the cross for our sins. He was buried and rose again on the third day. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
  4. Receive Jesus by Faith: To become a Christian, you must receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord. This means turning from your sin and trusting Jesus to forgive you. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Plan of Salvation

  1. Admit You Are a Sinner: Acknowledge that you have sinned and need God's forgiveness. (Romans 3:23)
  2. Believe in Jesus: Believe that Jesus is God's Son and that He died for your sins and rose from the dead. (John 14:6)
  3. Confess Your Faith: Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. (Romans 10:9-10)

The Sinner's Prayer

If you are ready to accept Jesus as your Savior, you can pray a prayer like this:
"Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite Jesus into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow Him as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Next Steps

If you have prayed this prayer and accepted Jesus as your Savior, congratulations! You are now a Christian. Here are some next steps to help you grow in your faith:

  • Read the Bible: Start reading the Bible to learn more about God and His plan for your life. The Gospel of John is a great place to start.
  • Pray Regularly: Talk to God in prayer every day. Share your thoughts, needs, and thankfulness with Him.
  • Join a Church: Find a local church where you can worship, learn, and grow with other believers.
  • Tell Others: Share your new faith with friends and family. Let them know what Jesus has done for you.

Live a New Life

Salvation is the beginning of a new life in Christ. Commit to growing in your faith, reading the Bible, praying, and joining a community of believers.
Key Verse: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Next Steps

Be Baptized
Baptism is an outward expression of your inward faith. It symbolizes your death to sin and resurrection to a new life in Christ (Acts 2:38).
Key Verse: "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'" - Acts 2:38
